Revolution Blues

from Closing The Gap by Vinnie Whitehead

/

lyrics

Do you have the right to protest or just to parade?
Bring your flask and the cardboard sign that you’ve made
I’ve seen more passion at a football match
then this nicely organised middle class march.

Don’t get me wrong I think we need a revolution
Just protests and petitions are not the solution.

Sanctioning the protest puts no strain on the system
That’s the point most of the activists are missing.
March and follow orders like cattle in a pen
kept under control until it’s time for bed.

Don’t get me wrong I think we need a revolution
Just protests and petitions are not the solution.

Numbers made history in 2003
But we’re still dropping bombs down on the Middle East
There where riots on the streets in the name of Rodney
but we still have to suffer police brutality

Don’t get me wrong I think we need a revolution
Just protests and petitions are not the solution.

The super rich elite will always get their way
when the media control how the message is portrayed.
The majority of people are brain washed with ease,
That’s the hypocrisy of a democracy

Don’t get me wrong I think we need a revolution
Just protests and petitions are not the solution.
